An Overview of Patient and Liaison Services (PALS)
Since 2002, the Pancreatic Cancer Action Network's Patient and Liaison Services (PALS) program has provided more than 50,000 pancreatic cancer patients and their loved ones with the information, resources and educational materials they need on their journey through the disease. The program also provides educational materials and services to health professionals and researchers. Learn about these and other aspects of the PALS program.

Pancreatic Cancer Action Network grant recipient Kimberly Kelly, PhD, discusses her research
Kimberly Kelly, PhD, Assistant Professor in the Department of Bioengineering at the University of Virginia at Charlottesville, received the Laurie and Paul MacCaskill - Pancreatic Cancer Action Network - AACR Career Development Award in 2007. Since that time, she has leveraged that grant to secure significant additional funding from the National Cancer Institute, allowing her to make noteworthy advances in her own research efforts.

Fighting Pancreatic Cancer on Capitol Hill
On February 16, 2011, supporters of the Pancreatic Cancer Action Network held a press conference on Capitol Hill to announce the reintroduction of the Pancreatic Cancer Research & Education Act in the 112th Congress. Among those in attendance were Pancreatic Cancer Action Network President and CEO Julie Fleshman, organization spokesperson Lisa Niemi Swayze, and bill co-sponsors Sen. Sheldon Whitehouse (D-RI) and Rep. Leonard Lance (R-NJ).

Zeshaan Rasheed, MD, PhD: Researcher, grantee and advocate
Dr. Rasheed was awarded the Tempur-Pedic Retailers -- Pancreatic Cancer Action Network -- AACR Pathway to Leadership Grant in 2010. His research goal is to better understand the origin of the cancer stem cells (CSC), and to determine whether regular non-CSC cancer cells have the ability to become CSCs in response to particular external stimuli. He has participated in Advocacy Day in an effort to increase federal research funding into the disease.
